I remember the Márton character at the famous work of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, and also TV cartoon series, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, in original, Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige, 1906. This white goose and family lives at the half frozen small lake at Bolu Mountains, Gerede near a motel. The same dilemma as Selma Lagerlöf's Márton, they can fly away but they don't... Because they are well fed and protected. They model for photographers too...

The monastery is located in Gümüşler town, an important historical source with relation to the middle ages. Despite not knowing the precise foundation of the Gümüşler Monastery, it is supposed to have been built between 8th and 12th centuries. The monastery is carved out of a large rock church and is one of the best preserved and largest of its kind in the Cappadocia region.
